Happy Tuesday! Today I am sharing another design I made for my recent beach trip to Seaside, FL (you can read more about it here, here, here, and here :), a pair of shorts! This past Spring, I learned so much about constructing pants and shorts when I made a pair of white jeans for my CTD 241 class, and I decided it was time to put some of that knowledge to good use.
I fell in LOVE with this cotton + silk woven fabric from Mood for the color and the texture. I love the deeper pink color and the rougher looking texture. Similar to the two piece set I designed for the trip, the color of this fabric was so hard to capture accurately in a picture. It is much pink- er (don't think that's a word...) than it appears here... it kind of looks red to me in the photos. And although the silk and cotton woven material of the shorts appears heavy, it is actually pretty light and perfect for a summer night! Maybe I should just call these shorts the "looks can be deceiving" shorts!
Moving on... I paired the shorts with one of my favorite simple white tops, a pearl wrap necklace, a pair of grey Vince espadrille sandals, and I threw my favorite neon stripe Clare V. clutch into the mix for another pop of color. The deeper pink color of the shorts makes them perfect for transitioning into fall/ winter! I cannot wait to wear these shorts again and pair them with a blazer and booties!
