Ruffles + Denim + Polo Weekend

The summer heat has officially reached the South, and two casual items I always turn to during the hot (and humid) summer months are sleeveless tops and jean shorts!
It's no secret that I love just about any form of clothing with a ruffle on it, so when I found this one shoulder ruffle top (under $50) I was sold. I have acquired quite a few off the shoulder ruffle tops and dresses over the past year, so I was excited to change thing up a little with the one shoulder trend. I think I love this top equally as much as all my off the shoulder ones!
When it comes to staple items like jean shorts, I can be very picky. Over the past couple of years, I have had the hardest time finding a good pair of jean shorts that fit all my requirements: a good fit, the perfect length, and the right color wash. When I stopped in Madewell a couple weeks ago, I was determined to find the *perfect* pair of jean shorts, and I actually think I found the best ones! These fit true to size (not too fitted, but not too loose), are a great length (can be rolled up/down), and the medium wash makes them really versatile. Plus, the denim fabric they're made from is super soft and comfortable for all day wear.
Another one of my recent favorite finds are these lace up sandals. For under $100, these are my new go-to neutral sandal for summer. Side note: they were a little stiff at first, but after a few days of nonstop wear, they are already molding to my feet. These also fit true to size, and I'd definitely recommend them!
... more about my weekend
I wore this outfit this past Saturday for a hot (and humid) morning of watching polo and an afternoon of lunch and shopping in one of my favorite places, Fairhope, AL. Over the past few weeks, I have had the best time getting to visit and play photographer at Point Clear Polo Club. I'm not sure if it’s the familiarity of the polo club (and all the family memories we’ve made around the field throughout my life) or the beauty of the horses and being outside that make it such a happy and special place to be, but I have loved getting to capture all the talented players and pretty ponies in action the past few weeks. From getting to watch my dad play as a little girl, to watching my brothers learn to ride, to now watching my oldest brother play, it's been so much fun growing up around this sport.
Something I’ve been reminded about myself over the past few polo weekends is how much I love being surrounded by passionate people. Polo is a sport filled with passionate people and watching the horses and riders in action week after week has been so amazing to me... I think I could watch the horses and riders in action all day. Similar to watching a band perform live, a ballerina dance, or even a fashion designer create a work of art, seeing people put their passion into action is so incredibly captivating and inspiring to me!
