NYFW: Tibi Spring 2019 Backstage & Runway Show

Wrapping up my NYFW outfit posts with arguably the most special one- what I wore to the Tibi Spring 2019 backstage and runway show! If you have been reading my blog or following me on instagram for any time at all, there is probably one thing that you have picked up on by now- I love Tibi. Their team, their brand, and their clothes have come to mean quite a lot to me over the past several years (more Tibi posts here).

I’ve written about it before here, but long story short: My mom, my sister, and I have been shopping/ wearing Tibi dresses for years. Whenever a special event comes up, one of the first things we find ourselves doing is heading to Tibi.com to take a look at their newest arrivals.

When I was 16 [July 2012], I visited St. Simons Island, Georgia and the Tibi Outlet (Tibi has two stores- their boutique in NYC and their outlet in St. Simons Island). It was there that fell more in love with their brand, seeing racks and racks of their gorgeous clothes up close, and I learned more about Tibi and their Founder/ Creative Director Amy Smilovic. Amy actually grew up in St. Simons Island and Tibi’s warehouse (where they fulfill/ ship orders around the world) is still based in Brunswick, Georgia.

It was around the same time that I first visited the Tibi Outlet that I decided to dip my toes into the world of blogging, originally launching my @LCBSTYLE instagram account [Feburary 2013]. Soon afterwards, Amy Smilovic visited Birmingham (my hometown) to show her Spring collection at Birmingham Fashion Week [March 2013], and I had the chance to meet her at a local boutique. At 17 I was dreaming of a career in fashion but was not too sure how I would make it a reality or if it could ever be a reality living in the South. Meeting this incredible woman with southern roots who had built and established such an amazing fashion brand worldwide inspired me so so much. Alabama is far from the fashion capitals of the world, but Amy’s story and the stories of other Southern women [with major influence in the world of fashion] have always had an incredible impact on me and encouraged me to keep chasing my fashion dreams.

This season I could not have been more thrilled (still pinching myself that this was real life) to go backstage and see the behind the scenes of Tibi’s Spring 2019 runway show (cannot thank the Tibi team enough for including me)! There is S0 much that goes into a NYFW show, and the entire process from start to finish is absolutely fascinating!

WHAT I WORE

DRESS: TIBI | SHOES: SAM EDELMAN | CLUTCH: ANN HOWELL BULLARD (C/O TULIPANO BOUTIQUE) | EARRINGS: NICOLA BATHIE (C/O) | WATCH: MICHELE (C/O)

I had been eyeing this dress for months, so when I received an invite to the Tibi show, this little pleated dress very quickly made its way into my cart! I cannot get enough of Tibi’s pleated ruffle dress designs (see the similar lilac midi dress I wore here), and this color block style is one of my favorites (see another color combo here)!

BACKSTAGE

The backstage scene at Tibi was organized fashion and beauty madness. There was so much happening in such a short amount of time to make sure every model was prepped and ready to walk the runway in the newest season’s designs. Hair was done by Aveda, Makeup was by Bobbi Brown (led by Cassandra Garcia), and nails were by Jin Soon!

Bobbi Brown and Aveda are two beauty brands I have loved and used for years, so I was extra excited to see these two pair up for this show! Overall, the makeup was fairly minimal with the main focus being the brows and a berry color on the lips. One of my favorite touches was the hint of shimmer on the brow bone that caught the light as the models walked the runway. Barrettes were placed throughout each of the model’s hair, which made for a subtle and very unique casual/cool look!

I will be sharing a bit more about backstage at Tibi and more of the hair/makeup in my NYFW vlog coming soon! Stay tuned.

TIBI SS19 FAVORITE LOOKS

What I loved most about Tibi’s Spring 2019 collection were the light silky fabrics, soft colors (the pink 😍), and pretty pleating. Tibi always achieves the perfect balance between relaxed and polished. Each look that came down the runway gave off a casual cool girl vibe but looked perfectly polished and put together. White on white is my go-to during the spring/ summer months (always feels so light and fresh), so I especially loved the crisp all white looks (bottom center and bottom right). Keep an eye out for these pretty looks in stores this Spring!
