Denim and Stripes in NYC + Boutique Shopping

Yesterday I shared one of my outfits from last week’s trip to NYC, and today I’m back to share another!
Lately I have found myself looking to more and more boutiques and independent stores rather than larger online retailers for fashion inspiration and shopping. Sometimes I feel like I get bogged down looking at the same items available at all the major retailers online. Anyone else feel this way? I love the way smaller boutiques in cities across the U.S. curate unique assortments of fashion and accessories from a variety of brands and style the pieces new, fresh ways. Shopping and browsing local boutiques is one of my favorite ways to discover new brands and designers… and to find unique pieces that not everyone has yet.
One of the best things about Instagram is the way it has given these independent stores across the U.S. the platform to be able to share what is in the store and to even make sales through Instagram. A lot of the boutiques I follow on Instagram allow purchases through the app and are happy to ship!
For a day of shopping, exploring, and walking allll over Manhattan, I wore one of my favorite boutique finds- this blush stripe button down top from Hemline Chattanooga with this denim skirt (both under $100). I found this pretty blush top through Hemline Chattanooga’s Instagram (one of many boutiques I love following). They shared a few sale pieces on their IG story, and I couldn’t resist the stripes and blush color! I have already worn it a handful of times, and it was the perfect thing to slip on for a sunny day in NYC.
