From Music to Modeling: Alexandra McDermott

A few weeks ago, when I was watching the Erin Fetherston Spring 2013 Collection video, the voice behind all the pretty footage really caught my attention. I had to find out more about who it was! To my amazement, the voice was that of one of the beautiful models featured in the video. I began searching the web for more on this amazing girl, Alexandra McDermott, and found out that she is a high school student just like myself. How old are you and where are you from? I am 17 and from Portland Oregon

How and when did you start modeling?

Erin's lookbook was my first modeling gig!

How and when did you start singing?

I began singing after trying out for my school talent show!

Many have started recognizing you from Erin Fetherston’s Spring collection runway show and video. Was this your first big modeling/singing job?

Yes!

How did you get the job with Erin?

Erin discovered me at a casting then she later saw my videos on YouTube and called me offering for me to do her spring fashion week show!

What was it like working with Erin?

It was so amazing! I learned so much about fashion, modeling, the media, and Erin gave me great advice about how to follow my dreams! I truly look up to her as a role model.

When you are not busy modeling and singing, what do you like to do?

I am a senior in high school so I spend most of my time skipping school to go to Starbucks with my friends.

How do you fit in all that you do being a high school student?

It's hard because I miss a lot of school, I do well in school but it's hard to focus when I have so much more going on. Most of my friends and teachers understand my situation though.

What are your plans after high school?

I plan to move to Los Angeles with my best friend Emma and finish my album there. Hopefully I will get signed and start touring!

What is your dream job?

To be a singer is my dream.

Where is your favorite place to travel?

Italy, France, and Hawaii! I want to see the world

What is your all time favorite movie and why?

Breakfast at Tiffany's, I know all the words. It's just a dream world to be able to love freely and dress like a goddess daily!

Who are your favorite music artists?

Adele, jack white, fleetwood Mac, Etta James, Otis redding, Amy Winehouse, and most recently the weeknd!

Who are your favorite designers?

I love Alexander Wang and Free People!

What is your most memorable outfit?

I sort all my memories by the outfit I was wearing that moment, I would say my most memorable outfit was a pair of bell bottoms I wore teepeeing a house and when I ran away, I tripped on the extra cloth and scraped my face on the asphalt.

If you could shop in only one store, what would it be?

What are your favorite flowers?
