Travel Guide: Highlands, North Carolina
I grew up visiting Highlands, NC (and nearby Cashiers, NC) with my family, and as a little girl it was (and always will be) such a magical place to me. After not visiting for about 10 years, I have visited twice in the past year and fallen in love with Highlands all over again. You know those places that you went as a kid and everything seemed so perfectly happy and felt like a big playground? That was definitely Highlands for me. My summer days in Highlands/ Cashiers consisted of swimming, eating popsicles, and playing bingo, and to my 5 year old self, I don't think there was anything more I could have asked for.
Now, I am able to appreciate Highlands for all my childhood memories, as well as SO much more! The surrounding mountains and beautiful views around every corner make Highlands such a charming destination year round! Whether it is Winter, Spring, Summer, or Fall, there is not a bad time of year to take a trip here. I have personally only visited during the Summer and Winter, but I am dying to see it during the Fall when the leaves change- I have heard it is breathtaking!
