Sport + Style: A Day at Myopia Polo Club

Polo is a sport with lots of style, and one of my favorite parts of my recent trip to Boston was the day I got to spend at Myopia Polo Club to attend the semifinals of the Forbes Cup!
Myopia Polo Club is one of the oldest active polo clubs in the USA, so it was really cool to visit, watch polo, and take in a bit of the history of the club and all the beautiful scenery of the property. Although the landscape and surroundings of polo fields can vary greatly from place to place, I quickly fell in love with the countryside setting and lush green backdrop of Myopia Polo Club. Sunday polo has been taking place on this exact field at Myopia Polo Club since 1887, so it was pretty amazing to sit there watching the talented players and beautiful horses competing while taking in all the history and tradition of Gibney Field.
My favorite part of the day was getting to watch and take pictures of the game from the beautiful grandstand. As seen in pictures above, the Myopia Polo Club grandstand makes quite the statement with its bold yellow and red striped tent and gorgeous lilies surrounding each viewing tier. The weather and setting could not have been more ideal on this warm but breezy August day in South Hampton, Massachusetts, and sitting there watching the players and horses in action, taking in the crisp northern air, and delighting in the amazing smell of the lilies was a memory I will keep forever!
Myopia Polo Club is a place where many of the family, friends, and supporters of polo bring out their "Sunday best" for Sunday polo, so I loved the chance to get a little dressed up for the game. Being a big fan of Self Portrait, I had been eyeing this little white lace dress for months but could never justify the purchase without having a specific place to wear it. When we booked our trip to Boston, I was pretty excited to finally have the excuse to buy it and bring it with me!
The little white dress was the perfect thing to wear for Sunday polo, because the lace bodice makes it a little fancy while the swingy cotton poplin skirt with pockets makes it more daytime friendly and functional. To accessorize the dress, I wore this straw hat (so sad it's sold out, but see a similar one here under $100), this black crossbody bag, and black espadrilles (similar) for a classic and feminine look.
If you happen to be in the Boston area, I highly encourage you to attend Sunday polo at Myopia- I promise it will not disappoint. And if you're not near Boston/ Myopia and have never attended a polo game, I highly encourage you to look up nearby clubs and polo events in your area. Whether you are familiar with horses and the polo sport or not, you can always count on Sunday polo being a fun and exciting family friendly event! There are very few better ways to spend a Sunday than surrounded by family, friends, and beautiful horses!
