Little White Dress for Argentine Open Polo Final

DRESS: FREE PEOPLE | SANDALS: MADEWELL | EARRINGS: NICOLA BATHIE | BRACELET: EX VOTO VINTAGE | WATCH: MICHELE (C/O)

Just a little over one month ago we were soaking up all the springtime sunshine in South America at the 125th Argentine Open Polo Final, and today I’m excited to share a bit more of the big day of polo on the blog! See more posts from my trip to Argentina here and here.

A little background info:
This tournament is one of the biggest and most important polo championships in the world. It has taken place for over 100 years (every year since 1893) at Campo Argentino de Polo in Palermo, Buenos Aires- a gorgeous venue where the towering bleachers look out over the field and the beautiful Buenos Aires skyline.

Ten teams with handicaps ranging from 28-40 competed in the tournament from mid-November to mid-December (in polo each player is rated -2-10 based on skill level, so the handicap of the team is the sum of all the players’ handicaps; 40 being the max) . On December 16th, this year’s exciting final was between two really incredible teams: La Dolfina (40 goals) and Las Monjitas (37) . La Dolfina came out on top with a score of 17-12, making La Dolfina (Adolfo Cambiaso, David Stirling, Pablo Mac Donough, and Juan M. Nero) the champions of the Argentine Open for the sixth consecutive year! Pretty incredible.

Below you will also see a few pictures I took from the women’s final, where La Dolfina Brava defeated El Overo Z7 UAE 9-8. It was such an exciting game too and pretty incredible to see both Adolfo and Mia Cambiaso win the men’s final and women’s final back to back for the second consecutive year!

And about my outfit:
While packing for our trip it was freezing and raining in Alabama, so all I wanted to do was escape and take the light, bright things with me to Argentina. Nearly everything I packed for this trip was lightweight, breezy, and white- including this dress! I spotted this dress in a store window about a month before our trip, and the second I saw it my mind jumped to Argentina… I thought it may be just the perfect thing to wear to Palermo for the final.

I have a real obsession with little white dresses and instantly fell in love with the lace detail, raw hem, tie at the waist, and button detailing on this one. This dress has an incredible amount of detail for its under $200 price. For a long day of watching polo, I paired the dress with these lace up sandals and carried the leather tote I bought in Buenos Aires (a long awaited purchase!).

For reference, I am wearing an XS in this dress. It is pretty see through and the top is unlined, so I wore it with this skinny strap crop cami and this half slip.
