STYLING TIP: The right accessories, especially bold necklaces like the one I'm wearing today, can completely make an outfit. To an otherwise simple look, this necklace adds detail, dimension, and a story- read more of this necklace's inspiring narrative below.

OUTFIT HIGHLIGHT: Some of you may recognize the hexagon pendant on this necklace, a symbol of Akola Jewelry that has come to be identified around the world. For those of you unfamiliar with this brand, Akola Jewelry is an incredibly inspiring jewelry brand based in Dallas, Texas that is 100% socially reinvested and committed to bringing new life to over 500 women in poverty in Dallas and Uganda. Through work opportunities, career training, and education, Akola has given hundreds of women in Dallas and Uganda a second chance, providing a means for women to not only survive but thrive everyday. Each piece of Akola jewelry represents life, women, family, hope, and so much more. See more of the Akola story in these incredibly touching and inspiring videos here, here, and here

I have been familiar with the Akola brand for years, but it wasn't until recently that I fully understood their entire story, mission, and purpose. After reading more of the Akola story on their website here and watching all the videos about their brand here, I am in awe of the amazing, transformative, and impactful work they do everyday! Sometimes it can be so easy to pick up a new top, new pair of shoes, or new necklace and not think twice about where it came from or who created it. We can have a tendency to focus on the surface level of a product (its face value) but many clothes and accessories, especially designs like Akola's, have such a deeper and bigger story to tell. My hope is that through this blog, I am able to share more of these stories and bring light to the amazing brands that work tirelessly everyday to restore hope, renew spirits, and transform lives through beautiful and stylish products.

If you have yet to take a peek at the pretty jewelry designs by Akola, do yourself a favor and take a look at my favorites below! Each piece is made by hand and 100% of Akola revenues are reinvested to help women in need in Dallas and Uganda. These are pretty pieces that you will both look and feel great wearing! :)
