A Newly Redesigned LCB STYLE Blog and Website

Welcome, Welcome!

I am so thrilled to get to share with you my website redesign that I have been working on night and day for the past week! This redesign came up somewhat spontaneously but couldn’t have been more timely!

During this time at home, I have found it best to keep working and moving forward with work as usual best I can. While so much is changing around us daily and what is happening in the world is beyond heartbreaking, my love for connecting with each of you and sharing my passions with you remains the same.

Also I know, for me personally, having something fun and challenging to work on keeps me feeling productive and calm in this crazy season. I think I am definitely a “project person” and kind of laugh at how I always somehow naturally find something to occupy my time or keep me busy… even when I have no intention/ don’t even realize I am doing it.

A little bit more about how this website redesign came about…

A little over a week ago I was going through my saved images on Instagram (love this feature so much and am always saving photos there as a digital moodboard), and came across an image that I had saved forever ago. It was this beautiful photo (see below) from Tory Burch’s Spring 2017 spring photoshoot (one of my favorite collections of Tory’s ever.) that took place at the gorgeous Playa Grande Beach Club in the Dominican Republic. It was a picture that just jumped out at me and really caught my eye. The open doors, soft pink and blue hues, pretty palm branches peeking out on the left, the intricate detail in the trim of the roof… you can almost feel the brightness and sunshine radiating through the image.

I couldn’t stop staring at this beautiful picture, so I felt compelled to do something with it.

I airdropped it from my phone to my laptop where I love playing around in Adobe Illustrator. I few weeks before, I had started a new vision board exercise in Illustrator, so I added a new space in my vision board document for this photo and titled it “Brand Colors.”

I then went back to my phone and saved IG images, airdropped a few more of my most favorite saved pictures, and added them to the same document on my computer. These images seemed to all have a common thread with similar colors throughout- pinks, blues, and greens.

Next to the inspiration photos, I created a few squares that I began filling in with colors from each of the images: soft blush tones, bright pinks, coastal blues, and striking greens.

the color blocking exercise that led to my site redesign

As I created a rainbow of brand colors inspired by these inspiration images, I was feeling really inspired and felt like I needed to turn this mini exercise into something more. Color is so powerful to me. So I headed over to the backend of my website and began playing around with the colors and fonts of my site design. As I started making a few changes here and there, it quickly became apparent to me that it was time to not just make a few changes but… to totally redesign my site.

It has been over two years since my last website redesign in January 2018 and while I loved the look and layout of my old site, there were a handful of things that really needed some improvement. Over the past couple of years, my business has grown and evolved in new ways, and it was time for my website to grow with me.

Side note: I minored in computer science in college and have always loved the challenge of coding/ web design. It had been a while since I put a lot of that knowledge to use but kind of fun to exercise that side of my brain.

Travel and photography have become two large parts of my work and business, so I am very excited to have a new home for my travel guides (many, many to come) here and photography work here. I am also super thrilled about my new shop page that I will be continually updating with new products as I am browsing and shopping online. I have created 8 different categories/ shop pages here- don’t miss them! I also have new pages for my Fashion posts here and Beauty posts here.

To celebrate the launch of my new redesign, I have published three new travel guides here that have been highly requested by readers- guides to Palm Beach, New York City, and Birmingham, Alabama. I know we are all homebound for the time being, but I hope that these guides can be a happy escape for you now and a super helpful resource when we can travel again! I will be publishing many more guides over the coming weeks, so I hope you will join me in dreaming of all the beautiful destinations to visit after this time has passed.

I hope you will take a look around my new site, explore a bit, and let me know your thoughts. If you have questions, input, or suggestions of anything else you’d like to see on my site, let me know!

Lastly, I think now more than ever, I am so grateful for you and this space I get to share with you. Thank you for coming to my blog and being a part of this creative journey with me!
